The Ventura Film Festival proudly holds the distinction of being "the most significant film festival ever organized in Ventura County." This remarkable achievement reflects the organization's mission of bringing diverse cinema to the local community while keeping its emphasis on vital ecological concerns.

The Ventura Film Festival functions as an unrestricted genre international film festival that builds consciousness about environmental matters like terrestrial and aquatic preservation and renewal, via an annual film festival and associated activities. The festival utilizes the power of cinema to promote activism and establish purposeful communication concerning these critical conservation concerns.

The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has captured notice from the international cinematic community. From its beginning, the festival has developed into an important cultural gathering that unites film artists, environmental champions, and spectators from every corner of the planet.

Some of the highlights have been hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the first ever world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/mixed martial arts fighter the celebrated Fabio Leopoldo, and the half-century commemoration of West Side Story, which included hosting the full Academy Award winning cast from West Side Story, featuring Academy Award honoree/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris along with Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominated Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was chosen to participate, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story and Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and legendary actor Golden Globe honoree Russ Tamblyn at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
